**New Delhi: **Zee Group founder Subhash Chandra has issued a sharp warning to Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani amid an escalating dispute over media reports surrounding a National Company Law Appellate Tribunal order involving Chandra. Chandra alleged that media outlets associated with Ambani were deliberately misinterpreting the tribunal’s order and spreading what he described as false information against him.

> “I learned a lot from Dhirubhai Ambani. But it appears you have learned nothing,” Chandra said in a strongly worded message. He further warned, “You are trying to eliminate someone who has nothing to lose. You are not in that position. You have a lot to lose. There are many hidden secrets. So, stop this dirty game.”

The dispute follows an NCLAT order that reportedly provided significant relief to Subhash Chandra in connection with the financial liabilities of the Essel Group. The order triggered criticism from political parties and renewed debate over corporate influence and the treatment of large business groups facing financial disputes.

Chandra accused TV18, CNBC and News18 networks, which are associated with the Reliance-owned media ecosystem, of publishing misleading reports against him. He alleged that there was a deliberate attempt to make him a scapegoat and damage his reputation by repeatedly citing an alleged debt figure of around Rs 22,000 crore.

According to Chandra, he attempted to contact Mukesh Ambani by phone after reports citing the Rs 22,000-crore figure appeared in the media. He also said that he wrote a letter to Ambani and contacted the Network18 editor to raise concerns about the reports. Chandra claimed that when he questioned the network’s credibility, the editor told him that instructions had come from above and that there was pressure.Chandra said he was making the allegations through his own channel because the public deserved to know his version of events.

He also responded to political questions raised by Congress and Shiv Sena MPs. Chandra said Zee News had supported Narendra Modi in 2014, but maintained that despite facing severe financial pressure, he had never sought government assistance or asked banks to extend special support.

The NCLT controversy centred on an order concerning Essel Group’s reported loan liabilities of around Rs 22,006 crore. Chandra, who had reportedly stood as a guarantor, was ordered to settle the matter by paying only around Rs 6.5 crore, according to reports. The decision attracted considerable criticism, with opposition parties questioning the extent of relief granted.

Congress and other political voices criticised what they described as preferential treatment for a major corporate figure. The issue gained further prominence after channels linked to the Reliance media network extensively discussed the tribunal order.

Chandra subsequently responded through his own media platform, accusing the rival media network of conducting a campaign against him. The dispute has now developed into a high-profile confrontation involving two major corporate groups in India.

Reliance, however, rejected Chandra’s allegations in a statement, saying the claims were baseless and that its media outlets had not targeted anyone through their reporting. The exchange has intensified the public debate over corporate rivalries, media ownership and the manner in which high-profile financial and legal disputes are reported.
