MANAMA: In a tragic incident, a three-year-old Malayali boy who was in a critical condition after falling into a bathtub in Bahrain has passed away. The deceased has been identified as Dhyan Surya, the only son of Kottayam native Joseph. child breathed his last at the Salmaniya Medical Complex in Manama on Sunday, where he had been undergoing treatment for the last three days.

According to reports, Dhyan had arrived in Bahrain just last week to celebrate Onam with his mother, Megha, who is a member of the Bahrain Keraliya Samajam. Megha has been running a beauty salon in Bahrain for the last six years, while Dhyan was living with his grandparents in Kottayam, Kerala.

The accident occurred after the Onam Sadya feast. After the lunch, the child had gone to sleep while his mother was working in the kitchen. Police said the boy woke up from sleep and went to the bathroom to play in the bathtub, where he accidentally slipped and fell.

The mother found the child unconscious in the tub and immediately sought help. With the assistance of a doctor who was present in the same building, she gave first aid to the boy. An emergency medical team that arrived after being informed rushed the child to the Salmaniya Medical Complex. However, despite continuous efforts by doctors, the child's life could not be saved after three days in intensive care.

The sudden death of the toddler during the festive season has cast a pall of gloom over the Malayali community in Bahrain. Authorities have said that procedures are underway to repatriate the mortal remains to his hometown in Kerala after completing legal formalities.
