A career with ISRO is considered highly attractive for engineering graduates because of the opportunity to work on advanced space and technology programmes while receiving a competitive government salary and benefits.

Candidates who meet the prescribed educational qualifications can apply for the posts. The selection process will consist of a Computer-Based Written Test followed by a personal interview. Candidates who perform well in both stages can secure an opportunity to build a career with ISRO.

A total of 175 Scientist/Engineer posts are available. The vacancies include 100 posts in Electronics, 53 posts in Mechanical and 22 posts in Computer Science. Candidates must possess an engineering degree in the relevant discipline with at least 65% marks or an equivalent grade. Applicants must be Indian citizens. The maximum age limit is 28 years as on September 16, 2026. Candidates working in Central Government services, persons with benchmark disabilities and ex-servicemen will be eligible for applicable age relaxations as per government rules.

Candidates will be selected through a Computer-Based Written Test and Personal Interview. The written examination will have a duration of two hours and carry a total of 100 marks.The question paper will consist of two parts. Part A will have a duration of 90 minutes and will contain 80 multiple-choice questions based on the engineering discipline selected by the candidate. Each question will carry one mark. There will be a negative marking of one-third mark for every incorrect answer.

Part B will be an Aptitude Test carrying 20 marks, with a duration of 30 minutes. Questions will cover areas such as reasoning, logical reasoning, diagrammatic reasoning, abstract reasoning and deductive reasoning. There will be 15 multiple-choice questions, and no negative marking will be applicable in this section.

To qualify in the written examination, candidates must secure at least 50% marks separately in both parts. For candidates belonging to the applicable benchmark disability category, the qualifying requirement is 40% marks in each part.

Candidates who perform well in the written examination will be shortlisted for a personal interview, which carries 100 marks.

For general candidates, a minimum of 50% marks in the interview is required, along with an aggregate of at least 60% when the written examination and interview marks are combined. For eligible benchmark disability candidates, the interview qualifying requirement is 40%, with an aggregate requirement of 50%.

The final merit list will be prepared by giving 50% weightage to the written examination and 50% weightage to the interview.

Selected candidates will initially be appointed in the ₹56,100–₹1,77,550 pay scale. They will also be entitled to applicable allowances and benefits as per Central Government norms.The position offers several additional benefits, including canteen facilities and medical benefits for employees and eligible dependants. Considering the basic pay, allowances and other benefits, selected candidates can expect a monthly salary of more than ₹1 lakh in the initial stage, depending on the applicable allowances and posting.

Written examination centres are available in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam in Kerala. Candidates can also choose examination centres in locations including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kavaratti and Chennai, subject to the official notification and availability.

The application fee is ₹750. Candidates belonging to women, Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, benchmark disability and ex-servicemen categories will receive a refund of the ₹750 fee after appearing for the written examination. Other candidates who appear for the written examination will be eligible for a refund of ₹500 as per the applicable rules.

Candidates shortlisted for the interview will also be eligible for Second Class train fare reimbursement for attending the interview, subject to the prescribed conditions.Applicants should regularly visit the official ISRO website after submitting their applications to keep track of examination, interview and other recruitment-related updates.
