In a startling incident at the Kozhikode international airport, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials intercepted a smuggling attempt and seized gold valued at approximately Rs 1 crore. The contraband had been ingeniously concealed inside an eight-month-old infant's diaper and strapped to the father's body.

According to official reports, the passenger, a native of Ponnani in Malappuram, arrived at Karipur on a Tuesday night flight from Ras Al Khaimah, accompanied by his three children. Acting on a specific and reliable tip-off, a specialized team of DRI officers rushed from Kozhikode to intercept the family during their arrival clearance.

Upon conducting a thorough search, authorities recovered around half a kilogram of gold mixture worth roughly Rs 50 lakh packed securely within the baby's diaper. Further intensive screening and body checks of the father revealed additional quantities of gold hidden on his person. Law enforcement and customs officials have initiated a comprehensive follow-up investigation to uncover potential broader networks linked to this smuggling attempt.
