**Kochi:** A case has been registered against a college student in connection with a complaint alleging that photographs of teachers and fellow students were morphed and circulated on social media. The incident was reported at Bharata Mata College in Thrikkakara, Kochi.

The case has been registered against Srihari, a second-year BBA student, following allegations that morphed obscene images of college teachers and fellow students were created and circulated through social media platforms. According to the complaint, the images were allegedly shared through Telegram and Instagram.

Following the complaint, the student was expelled from the college. College Principal Dr. Soumya said the action was taken after morphed images were reportedly found on the student's phone. The college has also sought the assistance of the cyber police in connection with the incident.

The college authorities reportedly received information about the alleged incident on September 1. A former student is said to have informed a teacher about the matter. The college management examined the complaint the following day and subsequently informed the police.

Meanwhile, some students have raised allegations regarding the action taken by the college management following the complaint. According to the students, Srihari was allowed to leave the college premises accompanied by a local guardian after the allegations came to light.

The students have also alleged that several other students may have been involved in circulating the morphed images and that the management had been informed about their alleged involvement. They claim that Srihari himself provided information about some of the other students allegedly connected to the incident.

However, the students allege that the management did not take action against the other students. They further claim that one of the students facing allegations was allowed to appear for an examination.

Protesting against what they describe as inadequate action, students have continued their demonstration in front of the principal's office. They are demanding that the authorities identify and take legal action against all students allegedly involved in the circulation of the morphed images.

The incident has also raised concerns among students and faculty members about the misuse of personal photographs and the growing threat of cyber offences involving manipulated images on social media platforms. The police investigation, with the assistance of cyber police, is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the creation and circulation of the images and determine whether others were involved.
