Skywatchers across Kerala who missed the opportunity to see the International Space Station yesterday will have another chance to witness the spectacular sight. The space station is expected to pass over different parts of Kerala again today, as well as over the following two days, giving astronomy enthusiasts and the general public an opportunity to observe it with the naked eye.

The International Space Station can be seen without the need for a telescope, binoculars or any other special observation equipment. Under suitable sky conditions, it appears as a bright point of light moving steadily and relatively quickly across the night sky. Unlike ordinary stars, which appear almost stationary, the ISS can be identified by its noticeable movement across the sky.

On the previous evening, the space station appeared at around 7:46 pm, becoming visible towards the south-western part of the sky. It remained visible for approximately four minutes before moving towards the northern direction and disappearing from view. Many people from different parts of Kerala managed to capture the event and shared photographs and videos on social media.

For those who missed the sight yesterday, there is no need to be disappointed. The ISS is expected to make further visible passes over Kerala during the coming days. The viewing opportunities are expected to continue until September 10, with the station appearing during both evening and early-morning periods on different days.

People planning to watch the ISS are advised to choose a location with a clear and unobstructed view of the sky and avoid areas with excessive artificial lighting. Since visibility can depend on weather and the exact location of the observer, clear skies will provide the best chance of spotting the space station.

So, if you missed yesterday’s pass, keep an eye on the sky today. A bright, fast-moving point of light could be the International Space Station passing overhead.
