Alappuzha: Kerala is being ruled by the BJP, which has only three MLAs, and the state is witnessing a situation where the UDF and communalism have become one, CPM State Secretariat member M. Swaraj said. He also alleged that betrayal and deceit were all that could be expected from the UDF government and that revenge was its main achievement in governance.

Swaraj was inaugurating a memorial meeting organised by the CPM Ambalappuzha Area Committee in memory of Sitaram Yechury.According to Swaraj, lakhs of rupees are being taken as bribes both for transferring employees and for preventing their transfers. He also said that there are people who believe that the CPM would disappear after losing an election.

> “There are people in our country who have shown impropriety towards the CPM,” Swaraj said.He said the strength of the CPM lies in its workers who do not change sides merely for a single seat or a chair. According to Swaraj, the party has a group of workers who remain committed to the organisation without switching sides for such positions.

> “Some people think that if the CPM loses one election, it will disappear,” he said.Swaraj also said that the party would make corrections wherever necessary when the people demanded them. “When the people demand it, we will correct what needs to be corrected,” he said.

The Sitaram Yechury memorial meeting organised by the CPM Ambalappuzha Area Committee was attended by several party leaders. District Secretariat member H. Salam presided over the meeting.

Area Secretary C. Shamji, A. Omanakuttan, A.P. Guralal, V.K. Baiju, K. Mohankumar, D. Dileesh, V.S. Mayadevi, K. Krishnamma, B. Ansari, A. Ajayakumar and Ambalappuzha North panchayat president Anitha Satheesh also addressed the gathering.
