**Thiruvananthapuram: **Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said a decision on the Enforcement Directorate’s letter seeking registration of a case against opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the CMRL-Exalogic deal will be taken after completing a legal review. Speaking at a press conference, Satheesan said there was no political motive behind the decision and that it would be announced without delay.

Satheesan said it was common for political parties to receive money from companies and institutions. However, he said the CMRL-Exalogic case was different from such matters and should not be viewed as a political issue.

> “This is not a political issue,” Satheesan said, adding that the ED had sent letters concerning not only this case but also other matters. According to the Chief Minister, the letter sent by the central agency contains serious matters and evidence has also been submitted along with it.

Satheesan said the government needs to conduct a legal examination of the serious issues communicated by the central agency. He also questioned whether the government could simply reject and return the letter on the grounds that it had been sent by the ED.

The Chief Minister said the CPI(M) was facing significant political pressure over the monthly payment issue. He clarified that the government had not yet taken a final decision on the matter. The government would seek legal opinion and proceed with legal action thereafter, he added.

Satheesan also referred to earlier ED notices issued to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. He said both had appeared before the agency and fully cooperated with the investigation. He contrasted this with the response of Congress workers, saying they had not attacked or damaged ED vehicles at that time.

On the PM Shri issue, Satheesan said the matter had not been discussed with Rahul Gandhi. He added that if any decision was taken in connection with the PM Shri scheme, it would be officially announced.
