Dulquer Salmaan has effectively confirmed that the actual budget of ‘Lokah: Chapter One: Chandra’ was ₹42 crore, putting an end to speculation that the film was made for around ₹30 crore. The film, which arrived in theatres as an Onam release last year, went on to become an industry hit in Malayalam cinema and collected more than ₹300 crore at the box office.

‘Lokah: Chapter One: Chandra’, which featured Kalyani Priyadarshan in the role of a vampire, reportedly earned between ₹302 crore and ₹304 crore from theatres worldwide. It was also the first Malayalam film to cross the ₹300-crore mark at the box office.

However, the official budget of the film had not been disclosed earlier. A budget of around ₹30 crore was generally being reported. Dulquer Salmaan, who also produced the film, has now confirmed the actual figure.

Dulquer confirmed the budget during an interview with director Venki Atluri as part of the release of ‘I Am Game’. He did not directly reveal the amount spent on making ‘Lokah’.
