The visa-free facility itself will continue, but the permitted stay for Indian tourists travelling with ordinary passports will be limited to 30 days.

Thailand remains one of the favourite international destinations for Indian travellers, thanks to its sparkling beaches, beautiful islands, delicious food and vibrant nightlife. Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya continue to attract visitors looking for a mix of sightseeing, relaxation and entertainment. Before setting out, however, travellers should take note of the updated requirements.

The Indian Embassy in Bangkok has issued detailed guidelines regarding the travel requirements. Being familiar with these rules in advance can help travellers prepare for immigration procedures.

Indian citizens do not need to obtain a visa in advance to travel to Thailand under the existing visa-free facility. However, the previously permitted 60-day visa-free stay will be reduced to 30 days from September 15. The 30-day exemption applies to tourists travelling with ordinary passports.

Travellers should check their passports before beginning their journey. The passport must have at least six months of validity from the date of arrival in Thailand.

Travellers should also have a confirmed return ticket or travel documents showing onward travel to another country. Hotel booking details and a clear travel itinerary should also be kept either on a mobile phone or in printed form for easy access when required.

Another important point concerns proof of funds during immigration. Each traveller arriving in Thailand should have at least 20,000 Thai Baht (THB) in cash, which is approximately ₹58,000. Credit cards and digital payments may not necessarily be accepted by immigration authorities as proof of funds.

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is another important requirement for travellers entering Thailand. All travellers arriving by air, road or sea must complete the digital arrival card.The TDAC can be submitted online starting 72 hours before the journey. After submitting the form, travellers should keep the confirmation document safely on their phone or in printed form so that it can be shown during immigration procedures.

With Thailand continuing to welcome Indian tourists, a little preparation before departure can make the journey smoother. Travellers planning to enjoy Thailand’s beaches, cities and nightlife should therefore check their passport validity, return ticket, hotel booking, required funds and TDAC before beginning their trip.
