**New Delhi:** Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Uniform Civil Code before 2029. Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, Shah said he was confident that the UCC could be implemented in all 21 states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA before 2029.

The Uniform Civil Code aims to introduce common personal laws applicable to everyone irrespective of religion in matters such as marriage, divorce, property rights and adoption.

Shah also highlighted the Central government’s approach towards terrorism, stating that the government has adopted an uncompromising policy against terrorism. He pointed to surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor as achievements of the government’s security policy.

According to Shah, India has moved towards performance-based politics under the NDA government, moving away from what he described as corruption, casteism and family rule that existed before 2014.

The Union Home Minister also spoke about India’s economic growth. He said India has become one of the world’s top five economies. Shah pointed out that India recorded a gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 7.8 per cent in the first quarter and said the country was leading among the major economies.

The UCC remains a key proposal aimed at bringing uniformity to personal laws across religious communities. Shah’s statement indicated that the NDA-ruled states would be the focus of efforts to implement the proposed common legal framework before 2029.
