**Kozhikode:** A rare celestial phenomenon known as a lunar occultation, in which Venus passes behind the Moon and temporarily disappears from view, was visible across South India. Despite the sky being largely cloudy, thousands of skywatchers and members of the public in Kerala eagerly waited to witness the unusual astronomical event.

The occultation began at around 5:20 pm on Monday, when Venus started disappearing behind the crescent Moon. However, because daylight had not completely faded at that time, many people were unable to clearly observe the initial phase with the naked eye.

The celestial event became a striking visual spectacle at around 6:45 pm, when Venus began to emerge from behind the Moon. The reappearance of the planet provided a distinctive sight for those waiting to observe the phenomenon.

Although the sky had remained covered with clouds, conditions improved as evening set in. The sky gradually cleared, allowing the Moon and Venus to become more clearly visible. The two celestial bodies appeared close to each other and shone more brightly as darkness increased.
