The Life Insurance Corporation of India has opened applications for the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2026, aimed at economically weaker students pursuing higher education. A total of 13,440 scholarships will be awarded this year, with selection based on merit. Eligible students can apply online through the LIC website, and the last date for applications is September 30.

  The scholarship is offered under two categories. The first is the General Scholarship, available after Class 12 or a diploma, while the second is the Special Scholarship, available after Class 10 or a diploma.

Students pursuing studies at colleges and universities, as well as those undertaking technical and vocational courses at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Industrial Training Centres, including integrated programmes, can apply.

Courses covered include medicine, engineering, degree programmes in other disciplines, diploma courses, integrated programmes and vocational courses conducted by government-recognised colleges or institutions and NCVT-recognised ITIs.

Under the General Scholarship, 120 students will be selected from each of LIC’s 112 divisional offices, taking the total to 13,440 students. Each division will select 80 General Scholarship candidates, including 40 boys and 40 girls, and 40 Special Scholarship candidates, including 20 boys and 20 girls.

For medical courses such as MBBS, BAMS, BHMS and BDS, the scholarship amount is Rs 50,000 per year, paid in two instalments of Rs 25,000 each. Engineering courses including B.E., B.Tech and B.Arch will receive Rs 40,000 per year, paid in two instalments of Rs 20,000 each. Students pursuing degree, integrated, diploma, vocational, ITI or equivalent courses will receive Rs 20,000 per year, paid in two instalments of Rs 10,000 each.

Applicants for the General Scholarship must have secured at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade in Class 10 or an equivalent examination during the 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26 academic years. They must have entered the first year of the eligible course during the 2026-27 academic year. The annual family income must not exceed Rs 4,50,000.

Under the Special Scholarship, students will receive Rs 15,000 per year, paid in two instalments of Rs 7,500 each. Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade in Class 12 or an equivalent examination during the 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26 academic years and must have entered the first year of an eligible intermediate, Plus Two-pattern or vocational diploma course after Class 10 in 2026-27.

Postgraduate students are not eligible. Those already receiving scholarships from another trust or institution are also not eligible. Students admitted to the second year of engineering through lateral entry and those admitted to the first year of regular engineering after a diploma can apply, provided they secured at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade in the diploma.

Students pursuing correspondence, part-time or open university courses cannot apply. Scholarship continuation will require students to secure the prescribed marks in each semester. Applications must be submitted online through the LIC website. The last date to apply is September 30.
