**Kozhikode:** Kozhikode beach turned into a sea of red as lakhs of people participated in the CPI massive public rally held to mark the conclusion of the party’s extended state committee meeting. People from various sections and different parts of the region joined the rally, showcasing the strength of the working-class movement.

The public rally was held at the Freedom Square on Kozhikode beach in the evening. CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby and Politburo members Pinarayi Vijayan, M V Govindan and A Vijayaraghavan were scheduled to address the gathering.

According to CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan, the extended state committee meeting took decisions aimed at further strengthening the party through organisational and ideological content. He said the party would intensify its struggle against all forms of communalism.

Govindan also said that popular struggles would be organised against the positions of the central government and against the UDF government, which he alleged was running an anti-people administration through a deal with the BJP.He further said that the CPI(M) would take the lead in a cultural movement aimed at strengthening the left-oriented mindset in Kerala.

The massive participation in the Kozhikode rally marked the conclusion of the extended state committee programme. The gathering brought together people from different sections in large numbers, with the party using the occasion to highlight the strength of the working-class movement and its organisational and ideological positions.
