**Kozhikode: **CPI General Secretary M A Baby said the party will correct the mistakes it has made and move forward, adding that the extended state committee was convened to bring about organisational corrections. He said the party and its leadership had believed that the welfare activities of the government during its 10-year rule would translate into votes. However, there was a lack of vigilance in recognising that false propaganda carried out behind the scenes had influenced people and in providing an appropriate response, he said.

Baby said the party would move forward after correcting these shortcomings. The extended state committee conducted a detailed examination of the setbacks suffered by the movement, according to him.

He said a major false perception had been created against the CPI(M). Propaganda was carried out by bringing together reactionary forces that opposed progress, he said. Baby also referred to propaganda alleging a connection between the CPI(M) and the RSS, saying that such campaigns had contributed to the setback faced by the party.

According to Baby, the extended state committee was held to recognise these issues and move forward by addressing them. He said an extended state committee meeting was held not only in Kerala but also in Bengal.

Baby further said the meeting had resulted in decisions that would provide greater strength to the party.
