**Thiruvananthapuram: **The Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner has directed the registration of a case over an alleged conspiracy involving a fake claim that V.D. Satheesan had registered a second marriage. The action followed a complaint submitted by KPCC media spokesperson Raju P. Nair to State Police Chief Ravada Chandrasekhar. The complaint was forwarded by the DGP to the Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Police Assistant Commissioner with instructions to register a case.

According to the complaint, Reporter TV owner Anto Augustine had claimed during an event in Pathanamthitta that two young men had approached him with an allegedly fake document purportedly showing that a second marriage of V.D. Satheesan had been registered at the Byndoor Sub-Registrar Office in Karnataka.

Anto Augustine reportedly said that the two men had approached him describing the material as a major news story. He said they had intended to provide the information for publication, but he decided not to report it after he was not convinced about its authenticity.

The complaint seeks the identification of the two men and the registration of a case against them under serious offences, alleging that a conspiracy involving a fabricated document was carried out to destabilise an elected government. The complaint also states that Anto has documents related to the matter and that CCTV footage of the two men visiting the Reporter TV office is available. It seeks the seizure of the documents and CCTV footage, including the hard disk, for examination.

The complaint also alleges that Anto Augustine’s failure to inform the police or government despite coming across the alleged incident was suspicious and sought legal action in that regard.

The police search of Reporter TV and Anto Augustine’s family residence followed the complaint. Anto later responded to the media, saying that he had fully cooperated with the investigation. He said that if the objective was to obtain items connected with the journalistic aspect of the matter, such items would not be found. He also said he had no answers to questions, including those concerning the alleged second marriage of V.D. Satheesan.

The allegations concerning the alleged fake document, conspiracy and the role of those involved are matters for police investigation and represent the positions and claims cited in the complaint and related statements.
