**Mananthavady:** A 23-year-old woman from Wayanad died after the car she was travelling in lost control and crashed into a protective barrier near Bidadi on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. The deceased has been identified as Afreena, wife of Muhammad Uvais of Changadakkavu in Mananthavady, Wayanad.

Afreena’s husband Muhammad Uvais, Uvais’s mother, sister and his sister’s child were also injured in the accident. According to the available information, their injuries are not serious.

The accident occurred at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday while the family was returning from Bengaluru. They had travelled to Bengaluru airport to see off Uvais’s sister-in-law before beginning their return journey.The car was travelling along the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway when it lost control near Bidadi and hit the protective barrier, resulting in the fatal accident.Afreena and Muhammad Uvais had got married in May this year. The accident occurred only a few months after their marriage.

The incident has left the family grieving following the sudden death of Afreena. The other passengers in the vehicle, including her husband, Uvais’s mother, his sister and his sister’s child, sustained injuries, though their condition was reported to be not serious.

The accident took place during their return journey after the visit to Bengaluru airport. Afreena, who was travelling with her family, died following the crash on the expressway.
