**Wayanad:** Reporter Channel MD Anto Augustine, who was arrested in a case involving the storage of liquor in excess of the permitted quantity at his home, has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. The remand order came after arguments lasting more than one and a half hours before the court. The court has postponed its decision in the case until tomorrow and directed that Anto Augustine remain in remand custody until then.

Anto Augustine was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Bathery after being questioned and having his statement recorded at the Excise Assistant Commissioner’s Office in Meenangadi. According to the position of the Excise authorities, the legal procedures related to the case were completed at the Meenangadi Excise Office before he was taken to court.

The Excise team brought Anto Augustine to the court shortly before the court’s working hours ended. He was taken from Meenangadi to the court following around five hours of legal proceedings at the Excise Office.

Anto Augustine did not respond to questions from the media either when the Excise team took him from Meenangadi to the court or when he was brought before the court. His lawyer also arrived at the court during the proceedings.

The court considered the arguments in the case for more than one and a half hours before ordering Anto Augustine’s 14-day remand. The court has deferred its decision in the case to tomorrow.
