**New Delhi: **The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against businessman Anil Ambani in connection with an alleged financial loss of approximately ₹2,684 crore to the Life Insurance Corporation of India related to its investment in Reliance Capital debentures. According to LIC’s complaint, most of the amount invested by the insurance corporation could not be recovered and subsequently became a non-performing asset, leading to the legal action.

LIC stated in its complaint that it had invested a total of ₹3,900 crore in five Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) issued by Reliance Capital between April 12, 2012, and March 9, 2018. The investments were made for general corporate purposes and to repay existing debts, according to the complaint.
