**Changanassery:** A 45-year-old woman who became critically ill following surgery to remove fat from her arm has died. V.G. Vidya of Puthupparambil, Mundukuzhi, Venkotta, is the deceased. Her relatives have filed a complaint with the Thiruvalla police, alleging that an error during the surgery performed at a private clinic in Thiruvalla caused her death.

The surgery to remove fat from Vidya’s arm was performed on the 16th. However, her health condition reportedly became critical following the procedure. She was subsequently admitted to a private medical college hospital in Thiruvalla for treatment. Vidya died at the hospital last night while undergoing treatment.

According to her relatives, the death was caused by an error during the surgery conducted at the private clinic. Based on this allegation, they approached the Thiruvalla police and lodged a complaint regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.

The private clinic authorities, however, have given a different explanation. They said there was no error in the treatment provided to Vidya. According to the clinic authorities, Vidya suffered a heart attack during the surgery, which led to her health condition becoming critical.

Thus, the relatives’ allegation and the explanation given by the private clinic authorities differ regarding the circumstances that led to Vidya’s critical condition and subsequent death. The relatives have raised the allegation of medical negligence in their complaint, while the clinic has denied any treatment error and attributed the deterioration in her condition to a heart attack during the surgery.
