**TEHRAN:** An Indian national was among two people killed in an attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, the Indian Embassy in Muscat confirmed. The deceased Indian national was identified as Suraj Yadav, a native of Uttar Pradesh. The embassy also said that 20 of the 28 people on board the vessel were Indian nationals.

The cargo ship caught fire following the attack, but the crew members were safely evacuated from the vessel. The Indian Embassy in Muscat expressed its condolences over the death of Suraj Yadav.

The vessel involved in the incident has been identified as the ‘Cape Dao’, a bulk carrier flying the flag of the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda. According to the report, the vessel was not included among the ships listed by Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority.

Of the 28 people on board the vessel, 20 were Indians. The crew members were safely evacuated after the ship caught fire following the attack. The Indian Embassy in Muscat confirmed that one of the two people killed in the attack was an Indian national.

Meanwhile, the Houthis have warned that US military bases in the Gulf would be attacked if the United States assists Saudi Arabia. The Houthis have also warned the United States against attempting to seize Bab al-Mandeb in the Red Sea.

Amid the threat, Saudi Arabia postponed the fireworks and drone show that had been planned as part of its National Day celebrations. The decision was taken amid continued Houthi attacks on the country, according to the report.
