**New Delhi:** Banks will remain open on Sunday, September 27, in view of the three-day nationwide bank strike scheduled from September 28 to 30. The Reserve Bank has permitted banks to operate on Sunday to prevent the inconvenience that could arise from banks remaining closed for five consecutive days, the Union Finance Ministry said.

The nationwide strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions and is scheduled for September 28, 29 and 30. September 26 is the fourth Saturday and will therefore be a regular bank holiday. With the strike following the Saturday holiday and Sunday, banking services could otherwise be affected for five consecutive days.

To avoid such a situation and ensure that the public can access banking services, banks will open on Sunday, September 27. Regular banking transactions will be permitted on that day, providing customers with an opportunity to carry out their usual banking requirements.

The Reserve Bank has granted permission for banks to operate on Sunday considering the three-day strike. The strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions will take place on September 28, 29 and 30. Before the strike, banks will remain closed on September 26 as it falls on the fourth Saturday.

The Union Finance Ministry stated that Sunday operations have been allowed to prevent inconvenience to the general public caused by the possibility of banks remaining closed for five consecutive days. Authorities also said that regular banking transactions will be permitted on Sunday.

The Sunday opening is therefore intended to provide customers with access to normal banking services before the three-day nationwide strike begins. Banks will function on September 27 despite it being a Sunday, while the scheduled strike will continue on September 28, 29 and 30.
