THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A purported phone conversation between SFI district secretary M.A. Nandan and Cantonment Sub-Inspector G. Gokul has surfaced following police action at the University Men's Hostel in Thiruvananthapuram. In the recording, a voice identified as Gokul's is heard warning that police would enter the party office and take Nandan into custody if a protest march was held towards the officer's residence. The authenticity of the audio has not been independently verified.

> In the conversation, the voice purported to be that of the SI says, “I am not afraid. If you can, do whatever you can. I will take care of the rest.”When asked who was speaking, the person identifies himself as Cantonment SI Gokul.

According to the recording, the voice further says arrests had been stopped following instructions from the Home Minister. He also says that if a march is organised, police would enter the party office and take Nandan into custody.

> “You behave properly, and we will behave properly. If you conduct a march now, we will go straight into the party office. We will take you. We know very well where you are,” the voice purported to be Gokul's says.

The controversy follows a Youth Congress-SFI clash in Thiruvananthapuram the previous night. Police had intervened during the confrontation near the University Men's Hostel.Following the hostel incident, the SFI submitted a complaint directly to the Home Minister seeking action against Cantonment SHO Satheesh and SI Gokul.

In its complaint, the SFI alleged that its activists were being specifically targeted and assaulted. The allegation remains the position of the organisation. The purported conversation between the SFI district secretary and the Cantonment SI has surfaced against the backdrop of that complaint and the dispute over the police action at the hostel.
